Major Activities

Structure

The concrete core now stands at its final height following the final pour at the end of July. Concrete pours have now shifted fully to structural decks and remaining garage areas. Decks will be poured on a 2 per week schedule in August and will be complete through Level 28 by month’s end. Also, at the beginning of August the Doka climbing formwork used to create the concrete core will be removed from the site. Structural steel erection has continued to move quickly up the building. By the end of August, roof steel will be erected and the final stages of steel erection will begin. Three full floors of curtain wall units have been placed and the curtain wall team is on track to meet their floor per week pace going forward. Two full crews are onsite installing glazing units. On Levels 5 through 16, interior work is well underway for the SLS hotel. This includes interior framing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations which will continue to move up through the building.

Public Impacts

5th Avenue

For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.

Columbia St

The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and the Rainier Club’s eastern property line will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.

Mobilizations/Street Closures

4th Avenue has been reopened for the public. Deliveries of curtain wall glazing unit bunks and structural steel will also continue along 5th Ave. The weekend of April 15th, 5th Ave. will be shut down to one lane between Columbia and Marion Streets for side sewer work. This will be 24 hour work in order to return the normal lanes by commute hours Monday morning.
