On March 5th and 6th, the steel box column structure for Levels 1 through 5 was successfully erected using a carefully choreographed sequence utilizing multiple mobile cranes. These columns are a major structural component allowing steel erection for the tower decks to begin. Following the concrete pour for the Level 22 core, the tower crane was jumped for a third time on March 13th; the tower crane now sits well over 450 feet above 5th Avenue. Four concrete pours in March will bring the core to Level 26 on March 29th. The dual car hoist has also been mobilized onsite and is set to be erected to Level 5 on March 19th. By the 27th of March, the dual car lift will be tied in up to Level 15. In the parking garage, concrete decks have been poured to Level D in the west garage and Level H in the east garage as of March 18th. Additionally, fireproofing work has begun in the lower west garage levels.
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and 4th Avenue will remain closed throughout the duration of
the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
Street Improvement Work will begin with the sanitary sewer along Columbia Street. This work will require closure of Columbia between 4th and 5th Avenue for four consecutive weekends beginning March 25th.
