Construction is firing on all cylinders in anticipation of completion and turnover of the F5 Tower. At the roof, the final crane dance was accomplished which removed the last construction crane from the project. Only the tower’s maintenance crane remains at the roof. Glazing has reached its zenith in the northwest corner and the final stainless steel trim cap and steel grillage is being installed. In the SLS hotel, rooms are being completed with full finishes in preparation for their opening date.
Down at street level, a massive steel canopy is being erected along 5th Avenue, vertical stone is in place, and the all structural glass connector has bridged the gap between the tower’s podium and the church to the north. Also of note is the sculpture which is placed at the southeast corner on 5th and Columbia. Upcoming work at the first level includes lobby finishes and build out on the south side of the podium, installation of entry doors and glass for both the tower and the hotel and final canopy completion with lighting and glazing.
For safety, the west sidewalk between Columbia Street and Marion Street will remain closed to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project. The west side traffic lane will be closed for construction Monday – Friday, between 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. and on Saturdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) as required.
The north sidewalk between 5th Avenue and the Rainier Club’s eastern property line will remain closed throughout the duration of the project as this is a concrete pumping station and will serve as the location for a construction elevator and other primary building functions.
4th Avenue has been reopened for the public. Deliveries will continue along 5th Ave.
